THIS top floor apartment is something of a gem.
It measures an attractive 1300 square feet, sits in the quiet Aye Yeik Mon (3) street between the busy Baho and Bayintnaung roads in Hlaing township, and comes for what seems like a reasonable price.
Top floor apartments bring with them a host of possible dramas, not least of which involves a potentially troublesome roof but there are advantages as well. In this case that advantage is an extra floor that has been converted into a shrine room and living space.
The apartment block is also on the corner of the road, so there is extra natural light and ventilation available.
And although the block is 10 years old, it has undergone a recent renovation and comes with freshly – if highly colourful – paint, lighting, decorations and flooring.
That includes orange walls in the downstairs living room, attractively styled parquet flooring, four air-conditioners overly decorative white ceiling and flashy lighting.
The spacious double bedroom and single room are more subdued and come with light lavender walls, the narrow dining room has pink walls and the kitchen a mix of light pink tiles and yellow and blue cupboards with Winnie the Pooh motifs. The upstairs shrine room also has light pink walls and a cool tiled floor while the adjoining relaxation space has faux wood lino flooring and the same pink walls.
It’s eclectic for sure but has something for everyone.
There are three balconies – one accessible from the living room and facing the front, and two upstairs – one at the back and one at the front.
Crucially, the top floor has insulation rolls installed in the ceiling to keep heat to a minimum during the hot summer. One electricity meter supplies power to the apartment and there is both government mains water and a ground tank.
