Word on the Street ... Eaindra Kyaw Zin

By Nuam Bawi

CELEBRITY fact: Popular actress and model Eaindra Kyaw Zin is also a keen collector of art! Timeout caught up with while she was filming on location to discuss paintings and love, a classic combination.

When did your interest in collecting paintings start?

I have loved arts since my childhood. My mum used to tell me that when I was young, while other children were off playing, I would just paint. Now that I’m grown up I envy painters but like to hang paintings in my home and collect them too.

So do you still draw?

No, I no longer make paintings as I don’t have much free time now. Another thing is that I cannot draw professionally. I just draw my ideas on paper, but the main thing is not whether I can draw or not, I love paintings and I love to make them.

How large is your collection?

There are many paintings in my home so I no longer have space to hang them all so I keep them in a pile. There are about 25 to 30 paintings in my collection now, which I bought just recently.

Which artists do you like the most and what kind of paintings do you collect?

I will buy a painting if I like it, it doesn’t matter who the artist is as I’m not fixated on that. If I think that a painting will work well hung in a particular place in my home I will buy it.

Buddhist lent will be finished soon and the marriage season will begin. Do you think being a famous celebrity is a problem in finding a suitable partner?

I sometimes feel like being a celebrity is a kind of restriction in being able to choose a partner. It makes me feel limited. Also, I have been so immersed in my career that I forgot about marriage. If I were an ordinary person, I would already be married at my age. But now my mind is entirely focused on acting.

What kind of man would you like to marry?

He should be a man with the ability to lead family life. He should be a real man with a strong mind. I want to raise a happy family so he needs to be a man I love. He should also be well educated.

What if you fell in love with a man who doesn’t have all those qualities?

When I was younger, love was first and foremost. But now I have changed. Love is important but we cannot build a happy marriage with love only. Although we need love, it is not 100 percent.

What kind of wife do you want to be?

In the past wives had to do all the cooking and take care of the children. Now men and woman have greater equality. I am not saying this just because I have earned a lot of money. A good wife is someone who has the ability to make her family happy. She should not stay at home all day but be able to support the family financially too.
