Officials will spend two weeks a month in the field implementing the program, which includes monitoring populations and studying their behaviour, educating villagers about preserving the environment and preventing illegal fishing methods in the region.
 
“We plan to go on one-night trips to each village in the delta that we can reach with the cooperation of local authorities before November. But after that month we will need to secure more funding [to continue the program],”

According to the department, the monsoon withdrew from northern Myanmar on September 11, and from central Myanmar and northern Bay of Bengal on September 22. But the retreat of monsoon conditions from the rest of the country has stalled due to the appearance of the low-pressure area.
 
The government has not released the full details of the project, including the construction period and estimated cost of the bridge, which will carry both rail and road traffic, but said it would be the biggest in the country.
 
“A large natural disaster is not only an issue for one national government – they need support from the countries around them. This is particularly important in a country like Myanmar, where the government feels more comfortable receiving support from regional partn-ers than Western countries.”
 
In August, a court at Yangon’s Insein prison sentenced the 64-year-old to three years’ hard labour, but Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Senior General Than Shwe reduced that to 18 months’ house arrest.
 
“Bean that are typically exported are not usually ones that are eaten locally, which means local consumption is unlikely to be affected. However, it’s likely that almost all of the available beans and pulses export crops will be sold,”
 
“Sales are cold – down by 50 percent compared to last May. It’s because the new SIM card licences have not yet been. The whole market depends on the granting of SIM cards. Sales will recover only when they are issued,”

The white façade is marred by some mould but moving into the house through the ornate, carved wooden door and there is a well executed interior as reward. The walls are arctic white and the floors are teak parquet of excellent quality.
 
NINE Nine, who came to fame with his acting, got married two years ago to Sandy Cho who is studying in the US. This has not stopped them from deciding to have a baby though. Timeout caught up with them last week at their house in Thingankyun township to discuss how family life has changed things.

“For the next matches we will have to play at Yangon’s Thuwanna Stadium and it may be more difficult for us to win as the pitch is larger and the other clubs are used to playing on it.
