MAKE no mistake, this is a big house and comes with space to spare, with a total of 6500 square feet of floor space. It’s just off Pyay road on U Kyaw Hla Street in Mayangone township and is not too far from downtown. But at K500 million to buy or K1 million a month to rent, it is not cheap.

However, there is a lot of space: It has two storeys, plus a basement and comes with four double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms.

The white façade is marred by some mould but moving into the house through the ornate, carved wooden door and there is a well executed interior as reward. The walls are arctic white and the floors are teak parquet of excellent quality.

The light fittings are over the top – there are hanging chandeliers and downlights in the living room alone. But if you can get over that the room has potential, with a high ceiling and white walls that scream out for artworks.

Just across a wooded divider is the spacious dining room and just beyond that, the kitchen, which is neat, loaded with marble bench space and numerous cupboards. In fact, it’s such a nice kitchen that it deserves an oven but does not have one. To the back there’s also a laundry. There is also a master bedroom and a separate bathroom not far away.

Downstairs there is a built-in garage and basement, with small windows and a concrete floor that would be ideal as a workspace or storage area.

The house’s upper level features an extensive landing at the top of the stairs that could double as a living or entertainment area, a balcony, one double bedroom and two masters – both of which come with baths.

This house is fed by three electricity meters and includes seven air-conditioners and one telephone line. Water needs are supplied by both tube-well and government mains water.
