Best Paintings of the Year competition

Tun Foundation Bank is holding an art competition in cooperation with the Myanmar Traditional Artists and Artisans Organisation. The Best Paintings of the Year competition will be held from December 7 to 11.

Artists are invited to enter two paintings each on any subject and theme and in a style of their choice. Entries must be signed and dated and should be no smaller than 3x4 feet and not larger than 4x6 feet.

First prize in the competition is worth K3 million, second prize K2.5 million, third prize K2 million and fourth prize K1.5 million. There will also be six grand prizes of K1 million each. Winning paintings will be kept as part of the Tun Foundation Bank’s art collection.

Submit entries between November 2-13 at the Tun Foundation Bank office, No.53/61, Strand Road and Thein Phyu Road.

Monthly Japanese film screening

The Japanese Embassy will screen Give It All at the Assembly Hall of the Embassy on October 29 and 30 at 2.30pm. Tickets for the screening will be available from October 15 up until the day of the screening (between 9am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 5:30pm) at the Embassy.

The film is directed by Itsumichi Isomura.

Concert at Hmyaw Sin Island

Singers Alex and Kyar Pauk will perform a show on November 7 from 7pm to 11pm at Hmyaw Sin Island, Kandawgyi Park, Yangon.

Tickets are K4000, available at Man Thiri music production in Yangon, Uncle Sam (FMI, Dagon Centre, Yankin Centre and BAK Centre). Tickets bought on the door are K5000.

Poetry book honours artist Wathone

The family of magazine illustrator and artist Wathone have collected poetry composed by his friends and colleagues in remembrance of him. Forty-three poems and one story and article written by Wathone himself have been collected in book form. The book is available at book shops now.

Halloween party at Inya Lake hotel

Inya Lake hotel is organising a Halloween party on Saturday, August 31. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. Entry is $12, which includes pizza and finger food, and free flow beer and soft drinks. The party starts at 9pm.

L’Oreal celebrates 100 years with concert at Inya Lake hotel

In celebration of the 100th year of L’oreal cosmetics, local retailer La Source has organised a concert at Inya Lake hotel on October 30.

A number of local celebrities, including R Zarni will perform at the concert which starts at 6pm. For more information, contact any major L’oreal cosmetics retailer.

Iron Cross announce October concerts

Singers Lay Phyu, A Nge, Myo Gyi and Wine Wine will perform concerts on October 30 and October 31 in Kyaut Tine field in Taungyi, Shan State.

The show will start at 7pm. Ticket prices range from K5000 to K15,000 depending on seating and are available at Fuji Music Production (1) and (2), Shwe Pin Sint restaurant, Kyar Ni Lane shop in Nyaung Shwe and Lay Pyay Hnyin (Gentle Breeze) Café or Style Store on Bogyoke Road in Taungyi.
