AS part of its on-going fund-raising activities the Myanmar Marketing Committee (MMC) has organised a Halloween Broadway Musical that will run from October 30 to November 1 at The Strand hotel, Yangon.
“In the past we always held golf tournaments and charity games to raise funds. This year we will also present a Broadway musical to Myanmar for the first time. The idea behind these projects is to hold fun events that can also raise money for the MMC,” said MMC public relations manager Khine Wai Thwe.
The event will feature songs from four well-known musicals, including The Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde and Dance of the Vampires.
“We started with the idea of Halloween and then looked around for different Broadway musicals that fitted with the theme,” said MMC executive committee member Carsten Schmidt.
Approximately 600 seats will be available for each night of the performance. A range of tickets are available: First Class tickets are K15,000, Deluxe tickets K10,000 and Standard tickets K5000.
A Premier ticket (K35,000) is also available. This ticket includes a set dinner at The Strand, which has recently employed a new executive chef.
Music for the event is being provided by Yangon-based Gitameit music centre, which provides training for young musicians.
“We were very happy to convince Gitameit to join in with the event, they have been practising for months and months,” said Mr Schmidt.
