MT Oung holds solo art exhibition
Artist MT Oung is holding a solo exhibition entitled “Strength of Life” a retrospective of the artist’s work painted between 1983 and the present. The exhibition will run from November 6-10 from 9am to 5pm at the Myanmar Art Centre, No.8 Komin Kochin Road, Bahan township. MT Oung has participated in approximately 60 group art exhibitions in Myanmar and his works were displayed in Singapore six times between 1996 and 2003. His most recent solo show was held at the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum in Japan in 2004.
Film screening at Nay Pyi Daw cinema
The film Angels and Demons is screening at Nay Pyi Daw cinema from October 23. The film is directed by Ron Howard and stars Tom Hanks, Ewan McGregor and Ayelet Zurer.
Rocker Zaw Win Htut releases album
Local rock star Zaw Win Htut has released his album Moe Htei (In the Rain) which represents a change of direction for the veteran singer, blending a more relaxed musical style with pop, Latin and Mexican beats. The album will be available from November 1.
“I’ve been mad about heavy rock since I was young and remained steadfast in my passion for it. But audiences have been listening to loud and noisy songs for almost 25 years now so I thought I should not sing heavy rock anymore at my age as rock has become such a bore to listen to in this time when pop and hip-hop are so popular,” said the singer.
Htoo Eain Thin’s album re-released
The deceased singer Htoo Eain Thin, has had his album Chit Chin Arr Pyint (With Love) released on MTV, DVD and VCD by CMP production. The album was the artist’s last release and was out four years ago on tape and CD.
Iron Cross concert in commemoration of Kayin State Day
Singers Lay Phyu, Ange, Myo Gyi, Wyne Wine, R Zarni, May Khalar and Khin Phone will perform a concert in celebration of Kayin State Day on November 7 and again on November 8 from 3pm to 7pm at Thiri Field in Hpa-an district in Kayin State. Tickets cost K5000, K9000, K12000 or K15000 and are available at U Saugt Pan Music production in Hpa-an.
Myanmar Book Centre holds festival
The Myanmar Book Centre has organised a “Book Buffet” fair that will take place from November 11-15 from 9am to 6pm at their outlets in Yangon and Mandalay.
A wide range of books have been included in the buffet and customers will be entitled to discounts of up to 70 percent. Customers are invited to purchase a 12x10x3 inch bag for K1000 or a 16x10x3.5 inch bag for K2000 and then stuff the bags until they are full. The Yangon branch is located at No.55 Baho Road, Corner of Baho Road and Ahlone Road and the Mandalay branches can be found at Room 3 of the MAC tower, Merchant Road and Room 429, Level 4, in 78 shopping centre.
Concert at Hmyaw Sin Island
Singers Alex and Kyar Pauk will perform a show on November 7 from 7pm to 11pm at Hmyaw Sin Island, Kandawgyi Park, Yangon. Tickets are K4000, available at Man Thiri music production in Yangon, Uncle Sam (FMI, Dagon Centre, Yankin Centre and BAK Centre). Tickets bought on the door are K5000.
