WHO uses computers in Yangon, and what other IT products do they use? The local computer industry wants to find out.
Visitors to last week’s Myanmar ICT exhibition in Yangon received survey forms designed to help computer companies sketch a profile of local IT use. So far about 35 percent of them have returned the completed forms, says Novel Light Media, which is conducting the survey for the Myanmar Computer Industry Association (MCIA). The survey results will be compiled towards the end of October, said U Soe Paing, executive director of Novel Light Media.
“There has never been a local ICT usage survey. MCIA drew up this plan to help IT hardware and software vendors with their marketing,” he said. Based on the results, MCIA could decide to extend the survey nationwide.
“At the end of the month we will look at the results and consider whether we need further study or not. But I hope the data will be enough to help exhibitors in future ICT exhibitions with their marketing analysis,” said U Soe Paing. The survey contains questions about daily computer usage, available IT equipment, software and technology.
