Ju Jue K, 22 years old, has won many “Miss” fashion competitions, which have become popular in Myanmar. Recently she won the Miss ICT competition that was held on October 15 at Tatmadaw Hall. This is her third win of a “Miss” title and add to her numerous runner-up awards and wins from other competitions. Timeout caught up with Ju Jue K to discuss her feelings and future plans.
How did you get involved in the Miss ICT competition?
I became very interested when I read about the competition in local journals. I’m also interested in things related to IT so I decided to get involved in the competition.
How was your experience of the competition?
We had to compete in two outfits. My first was a white shirt and jean pants. All the competitors were beautiful so I had no confidence at first. But my second outfit was a great design with leather and I held a helmet like an astronaut when I walked out on stage.
How did it feel winning?
It was different to normal because this competition was a big show and also the first one for IT so I am happy and proud to be the first Miss ICT.
Do you think titles are important to the career of a model?
These kinds of competition are the exams that test the quality of models. If we didn’t hold this sort of competition then we wouldn’t know whether the quality is rising or falling. I think our skill improves when we compete.
What is the difference between normal Ju Jue K and Ju Jue K on stage?
I think we would have to ask the fans.
Now that you are part of the modelling world, is it like what you imagined before you were a model?
I was a fan before so I heard many people talking gossip about people in modelling circles… There are good things and bad things everywhere so I believe if we stay right and behave well everything will be fine.
How do you behave yourself?
For girls, morality is the most important thing. We must maintain our morality not only within modelling circles but in society because so many people take an interest in us.
How do you keep up to date with fashion?
I am always looking on the internet and on the inter-national fashion channel to keep my styles updated. I also read fashion magaz-ines. When-ever I have a perfor-mance I discuss with the desig-ner.
Have you ever experienced difficulties with an outfit while on stage?
I have never experienced a big problem with an outfit but I have had little problems when walking on stage such as when the outfit is too long and difficult to walk in but these mishaps were minor and nobody noticed them.
Are you interested in other pursuits such as singing and acting?
I have always been really interested in art since I was young, so I will try to do this. I don’t have any relatives who are prominent in art circles so I have to try harder than others. I am always involved in these kinds of competitions and am also interesting in acting.
Do you have any plans to compete in the Miss People competition?
I will not participate in the Miss People competition because I have another competition two days before it.
