“We maintain the animals outside during the summer months in a large vegetated enclosure. In the winter, they are inside. The female lays eggs in the late fall. We have determined that this species has temperature dependant sex determination like many turtle species, whereby the sex of the hatchling is determined by the incubation temperature,”

“This year we could introduce a new package priced at K450,000 a person. This covers flights between Yangon and Gaya and travel to a Theravada Buddhist monastery at Bodhgaya. The length of the trip is up to the pilgrims, they can stay as many days as their return ticket is valid for,”
“But it was really bizarre looking. One of the reviewers of the study called it a monster, and I have to admit it had a face only another fly could have loved. I was thinking of making some masks based on it for Halloween.”

“We reaffirmed our commitment to a dialogue among the government, the opposition, and the ethnic groups. The goal of such a dialogue would be national reconciliation and a fully inclusive political process in Myanmar,”
“I participated in the meditation course last year. Some people who helped out last year are now taking the meditation course. We are happy to support them and then we also practise meditation in our free time,”

U Htike Lun Maung, the managing director of New Motion, said that while in the past most Myanmar people opted for domestic vacations during their holidays, a growing number are becoming interested in visiting other countries when they travel.

“The cyclone affected us both physically and mentally. Although we received a great deal of help from the government and various donor organisations, we are really just back to where we were before Nargis. Before the cyclone we had many needs and the cyclone made it worse,”

Potential implementing partners for delta-based projects have three weeks from November 10 to submit a proposal, while those seeking funding for other areas in the country have eight weeks to prepare proposals.

Myanmar, once the world’s largest exporter of rice after independence, now lags far behind Thailand, Vietnam and Pakistan, said Dr Maung Aung. As Myanmar looked forward to exporting a million tonnes this year, Thailand was set to export 10 million tonnes, and Vietnam about 6 million tonnes.

The design of Myanmar’s national pavilion took the prizes for “best exhibition award”, and the arrangements made to ensure the participation of about 300 exhibition staff won it the “best trade visitor organiser award” after the expo, which took place from October 20 to 24.

“Almost all the frames we made sold out, there is always strong demand for those but we had trouble finding enough workers, so we cut back on our number of designs this year to save time,”

The house has recently been whitewashed on the sides and there are white tiles at the front. The entrance is wide and reveals a turquoise wall landing. To the right is the living room with bright pink coloured walls and pleasant teak parquet flooring.

Association joint secretary (1) Dr Aung Htay Lin said the calendar featured photos of Ngwe Saung’s natural beauties, chosen from among the winning images of a contest held by the association in collaboration with the Myanmar Photographic Society in November last year.

“Though there are six members in each group, only three contestants (weaver, sparer and mechanic) may stay on the loom, while the others stay behind the loom. When the loom pauses, the mechanic must hurry to make repairs while the others wait,”
“I tested the strength, stamina and performance of the more established players in the first match and gave the younger players an opportunity in the second. They really responded, using all their effort and speed – the second match was more competitive than the first.”
