This Is It now screening

Michael Jackson film This Is It is screening at Nay Pyi Daw cinema from November 6 to November 19. It documents the King of Pop’s final months and features rehearsal footage for his planned series of concerts in London.

Fund-raising fair for the elderly

Hninzi Gon Home for the Aged will hold a fund-raising fair on December 5 at the home on 21 Kaba Aye Pagoda Road, Bahan township. Over 60 stalls will sell a selection of food and drink, clothing, medicine and other assorted products from midday. Dancer Myint Myint Kyi of traditional anyein group “Myanmar Gon Yi” will perform in addition to comedy performances starting at 7pm. The fair will also a feature a ferris wheel and amusement area for children. Entry to the fair is free.

“We have celebrated this fair annually for people to enjoy time spent with older people and to make donations to the elderly,” said U Aung Than, Vice-chairman, Hninzi Gon Home for the Aged.

Drama training

Dana Htun Linn company has started offering a course in acting, which also includes skills such as modelling, presenting and dancing. The course will run for three months starting November 23. Interested parties can apply for the course at the company office, 1st Floor, Chan Thar Plaza, Pazutaung township. The course fee is K150,000.

After completing the course participants will have the opportunity to perform in a film entitled Thiha Bahu to be screened on Myawady TV channel and MRTV.

Concert postponed

A concert organised by singers Alex (Hero) and Kyar Pauk (Big Bag) for November 7 was recently postponed until December 6 following a poor turnout to a similar concert held in Mandalay on October 24.

Publicity for the Mandalay concert was poor with the result being that many fans did not know the singers were going to perform and where.

“I’ll sing at least 20 songs alone and then with Kyar Pauk we have plans to sing together. We’ll also change our songs a little, which we didn’t do in Mandalay,” said Alex.

In addition to the concert, Alex’s forthcoming album 20 Years will be released sometime in the next two months.

The concert will take place at Hmyaw Sin Island, Kandawgyi Park, Yangon from 6pm. Tickets are available at all branches of City Mart, Ko Ko Nyi Nyi Beauty Saloon and Man Thiri music production for K4000. Tickets bought at the gate are K5000.

Art exhibition at Bogyoke Market

Artist U Thant Sin will hold an art exhibition from November 20 to 25 at the Myanmar Traditional Artists and Artisans Organisation, 188/192 Bogyoke Aung San market. The paintings are in oil, water and acrylic and mostly depict landscapes in Myanmar. Approximately 30 artworks will be for sale.

The Nu Wah promoting new album

Singer The Nu Wah will be promoting her forthcoming album Adipadi Lan Hmay Moe Tway Ywar (Downpour in Adipadi Lane) on November 22 with a voucher for Happy World Yangon worth K1000 for those who purchase a legitimate copy of her album. The Nu Wah will perform a free concert with other celebrities at Happy World on November 22.
