MORE than 300 books on ornamental fish, as well as other works in the Myanmar, Thai and Japanese languages, are available at the new ornamental fish library, opened at the Fresh Water Fish Garden, Kandawgyi Park on November 13.

“The library has also books relating to crab, eel and snail fisheries, as well as books from the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). This will be very helpful to people working on research papers,” said U San Lwin, deputy director of the Fresh Water Fish Garden under the Department of Fisheries (DOF).

He said the books’ subjects included ornamental fish breeding, feeding, disease control, hatchery and aquarium decorations. The books are from the DOF, Ornamental Fish Entrepreneurs’ Association and experts.

The library will be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 4pm.
“Anyone is welcome to come and read at the library, but anyone wishing to borrow should be a permanent member of the Ornamental Fish Entrepreneurs Association by paying a membership fee of K5000,” said U San Lwin.
