BLUNT is the best description of this house in Hlaing township. The façade says many, many things with little subtlety at all.
It’s also not cheap at K460 million, and is a 40-minute drive from the downtown area and is located just off the busy Bayintnaung Road, in the Mya Kan Thar garden housing project.
However, it is a large house and comes inside a sizeable property.
The three-storey house comes with five bedrooms and covers 4200 square feet, with a further 1600 square feet surrounding the house.
But the exterior is crude indeed – from the semi-circular room that produces on one front corner, to the towering third floor and dwarfed front door – the house literally punches the eye.
It’s much better on the inside and comes with nice wooden flooring, somewhat restrained [mostly] lighting and white-painted walls.
The living room is spacious and features an elaborate, sculpted ceiling. And while the circular construction might seem awkward from the outside it certainly lets plenty of light into the interior of the room.
Behind the living room in an ensuite single bedroom that would be perfect as a guestroom or study.
Unsurprisingly the kitchen and dining room sit alongside each other: Both are well-equipped with storage space and working area but won’t win any design awards. There’s also a well-placed toilet next to the kitchen.
The second floor features two ensuite double bedrooms and one master, all of which have space to spare, while the top floor includes a big shrine room, bedroom and a wide balcony. The house is about three years old and the exterior walls could do with painting. Five air-conditioners and one electricity meter are included in the sale, while water is supplied by government mains.
