Internet radio on the way: Red Link

By Kyaw Zin Htun

INTERNET radio is on its way with the upcoming launch of a new web portal in December, a Red Link Communications director said last week.

U Thein Than Toe, a director with Red Link, said the company will host the portal at http://www.enjoy.com.mm and http://www.enjoy.net.mm.

He said the website will offer internet radio on the Cherry FM station, which is owned by Zaykabar company and now airs in Shan and Kayah states, on the 89.8 MHz frequency, adding that users will have the chance to listen to its programs and request songs.

The portal will also display news, sports, commodity prices, English-Myanmar dictionary, directories, job advertisements, classified advertisements, web chat, forums and free downloads.

“The objective is to create a comprehensive web portal with local contents as there are few web portals here,” he said, adding that the site will be non-profit and mainly target to young and middle-aged internet users.

“The web portal won’t charge anything from the users and it will offer free sign-up.
