“The school is small, which will allow for a fairly integrated curriculum. We will be offering courses in which skills from one class will allow students to explore the subject matter of another class more deeply,”

Daw Kaythi Naing, the association’s executive committee member, said the 10th anniversary event would include performances, musical entertainment, contests and cultural shows, but the details are yet to be confirmed.

U Ko Ko Latt said the value of direct services was illustrated last year, when the lack of direct flights meant most Hajj pilgrims from Myanmar had to transfer in Bangkok on their way to Saudi Arabia. The trip was organised by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for residents of Hlegu township in Yangon Division, who have been learning about infrastructure building and repairing roads, said KOICA representative Ms Jin-Hwa Kim.
