SANCHAUNG township can be said to have it all – a busy urban environment, shopping centres, numerous street markets, high-rise condominiums and some large, semi-secluded houses on the fringes.

One of these more separate houses is this duplex, which sits in the Pun Hlaing housing complex on Home Street, just off Baho Road.

The house is a duplex but is fenced off from the property alongside and comes with its own paved yard, measuring about 2100 square feet.

The three-storey house covers about 2500 feet and comes with a 60-year lease.

Some aspects of the house are conventional, like the teak parquet flooring upstairs, while the living room, with its tiled floor and walls, are surely not. Sure, you could say it’s easy to wash and maintain but it’s also of questionable aesthetic taste.

Alongside, there is an extensive dining room with a similarly tiled floor and a kitchen and bathroom. A door leading out of the kitchen leads onto a covered compound to the rear of the house.

The kitchen, despite its white tiled floors and walls, is a dark room, with the overhanging corrugated iron roofing blocking what light could enter naturally. And the cupboards look due for replacing.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms and a shrine room alongside the staircase.
None of the three bedrooms come with an ensuite bathroom, hardly a hardship, and share a common bathroom that comes with a bathtub.

There is an attic at the top of the house that would be best used as a storage space.

Three window-type air-conditioners and one generator are included in the sale price, as are one telephone line and one electricity meter. Potential buyers should also be aware that they will be expected to pay K11,000 per month for the collection to rubbish, security provision and water supply.
