MiCasa Hotel Apartments in Yangon’s Yankin township is offering holiday packages throughout the Christmas and New Year period and will also hold Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve buffet dinners with entertainment.

WITH Christmas and New Year’s Eve fast approaching, hoteliers in Myanmar have announced special room rates and festive events aimed at attracting guests for the holiday season.

Traders Hotel in Yangon will offer special rates for locals and foreign residents on December 24 and 25, and December 31 and January 1. Priced at US$79 for a single and $109 for a double, the rates include one night of accommodation in a deluxe room, buffet breakfast, use of the health club and swimming pool, and Christmas or New Year buffet dinner at Traders Café.

Those who opt not to take advantage of the special room rates can still join the Christmas buffet dinner on December 24 or December 25, or the Christmas buffet lunch on December 25, for $35 each.

A New Year’s Eve buffet dinner will also be offered on December 31 for $40. Dinner guests can pay an additional $10 to join the midnight countdown party at the Myanmar Ballroom. The party, priced at $55 for those who don’t attend the buffet dinner, will kick off at 7pm and will feature performances by singer Chan Chan and a DJ as well as a lucky draw and free flow of house wine, draught beer and soft drinks.

Daw Win Pa Pa Aung, the communications manager of Traders Hotel, said the party will have a “Black and White” theme. “No one will be permitted to wear other colours at the event. All guests should dress in black and white,” she said.

Chatrium Hotel will hold a poolside “Red Christmas Party” on December 24 for $40 a person, including international buffet dinner, beer, wine and soft drinks.

Daw May Myat Mon Win, Chatrium’s director of sales and marketing, said the event will start at 7:30pm and will feature carol-singing groups, games, entertain-ment by the Rainbow Band and DJ Thaw Thaw, and gifts from Santa Claus.

“All guests should dress in red, and a special prize will be given to someone whose costume is really outstanding and cool,” she said.

The superhero Batman will be the theme of a New Year’s Eve party at Sedona Hotel in Yangon, kicking off at 7pm on December 31. Entertainment will include performances by actor Lu Minn and singers Zaw Win Htut and Chit Thu Wai, as well as music by Emperor. There will also be a Myanmar martial arts show.

Tickets will be available for $60 (second row poolside), $70 (first row poolside) and $100 (floating in the pool).

Sedona Hotel is also offering a poolside Christmas Eve dinner for $30, and a Christmas Day brunch for $25 at Brasserie Restaurant.

Parkroyal Hotel Yangon will host a “Christmas in Disneyland” dinner from 6:30pm to 10:30pm on December 24, priced at $40 (tennis court) and $35 (poolside). The price includes a western buffet dinner and a glass of sparkling wine, as well as free flow of beer and soft drinks.

Festivities will also include a lucky draw, Filipino music band, percussionist Junny and Friend, and Myanmar Hits by the Best Singers of Myanmar Superstar.

Parkroyal Hotel Yangon will host a New Year’s Eve Oscar dinner in the Grand Ballroom. The event costs $55, including international buffet dinner and lucky draw. There will be an Academy Award-themed show, performances by singers R Zarni and Chan Chan, percussion music by Junny and Friend, and a Filipino band.

Christmas Eve room packages at Parkroyal are priced at $83 for singles and $121 for doubles, while New Year’s Eve packages cost $100 for singles and $155 for two people.

“The packages include one night of accommodation in a deluxe room, gala buffet dinner, and international buffet breakfast, and the Christmas Eve package also includes 30-minute foot massage at the hotel’s Zen Foot,” said Daw Thinzar Myat Mon, a commun-ications executive at Parkroyal.

MiCasa Hotel Apartments is offering holiday packages for locals and expatriates, valid from December 20 to January 1. The first, priced at $52 for two people, includes one night of accommodation, buffet breakfast, and use of the swimming pool and gym. The $70 package also includes a set lunch for two.

“We will also have a Christmas Eve event on December 24 at Tapas Bistro, starting at 6:30pm and finishing at 11pm. The price is $35 for an adult and $18 for a child,” said Daw Khin Khin Htay, the public relations manager of MiCasa. The price includes a buffet dinner, live music, dance performance, magic show, games, and a children’s corner with Santa Claus.

MiCasa will also offer a New Year buffet at Tapas Bistro on December 31 from 7:30pm to midnight. The price is $30 for adults and $15 for children, including enter-tainment and lucky draw.

Meanwhile, Thande Beach Hotel in Ngapali has introduced two-night/three-day packages for December. The price is $216 for foreigners and $205 for locals, which includes accomm-odation with breakfast, roundtrip airfare, and transfers between the hotel and airport. Daw Su Su Mon, the hotel’s assistant manager of sales and marketing, said Thande Beach Hotel will have Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve dinners, each priced at $40, including puppet shows.

Emerald Sea Resort at Ngwe Saung beach is also introducing three packages for two-night/three-day stays, effective from December 7 to January 7.

The Emerald Package is for groups of 20 or more guests, with prices ranging from K90,000 to K115,000 a person, including accomm-odation, meals, sightseeing and transportation. Gold Packages, priced at K65,000 to K90,000 per person, and Silver Packages, priced at K60,000 to K75,000 are also available.

On December 31, Amara Resort in Kalaw, Shan State, is holding a New Year’s Eve event for $48 a person, including cocktails, gifts, lucky draw, traditional Shan dancing and international buffet with barbeque.

L’Opera restaurant on Inya Lake will be holding a New Year’s Eve dinner buffet from 7pm. Tickets are priced at $45 for adults and $25 for under 12s and includes a midnight champagne toast, Rainbow music band and a balloon drop.

Le Planteur restaurant will be offering special set course meals on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day priced at $69. The offer is available for both lunch and dinner on those days.

The restaurant is also offering Christmas and New Year’s Day brunches priced at $22.
